Sourcing From The Road

Sourcing from the Road

Many of the objects found at Madre Tierra are not sourced through catalogues or seasonal buying. They are gathered along the way- through travel, conversation, chance encounters, and intuition.

Markets, workshops, small studios, roadside stops, and places that are not always marked on maps. Some items are discovered quickly. Others require patience. What matters is not volume, but recognition- the quiet sense that something belongs in the space.

Sourcing in this way means that availability is fluid. Quantities are often limited. Materials shift. Certain objects appear once and are never found again. This is not inconsistency-  it is the natural rhythm of working with handmade, culturally rooted, and energetically specific pieces.

Travel plays an essential role in this process. Objects carry the imprint of where they come from: land, climate, tradition, and human hands. These layers are not removed or standardised. They are respected.

Because of this, not everything that enters the shop is immediately documented online. Some things are meant to be encountered in person, chosen slowly, and understood through touch rather than description.

What arrives does so with intention.
What remains does so with purpose.
